What really needs to be said about The Last of Us 2? Unless the entire development team undergoes severe brain trauma which somehow manages to take this one off the rails, this is a strong contender for GOTY. The first Last of Us game is a classic, and the sequel is one of the most highly anticipated games of this generation.

Days Gone is an open-world survival horror game. Action adventure fans are going to have their hands full as they roam around in a post-pandemic world. This one is brought to us by the folks at SIE Bend Studio, who haven’t put out a new IP since Siphon Filter. You’ll be able to travel around in vehicles like the above-pictured motor bike at the top of this page, and to craft new weapons to improve your effectiveness in combat. Also, zombies.

This is the next title from the team behind the two unique titles Bastion and Transistor. While PS4 will be it’s exclusive home on consoles, PC gamers will also get to enjoy it. Creative director Greg Kasavin says the theme for the game they settled on is:
“what happens when you face defeat, and have to come back from it the next day, look your friends in the face, look yourself in the mirror, and deal with the consequences of the decisions you made?”
IGN has described the combat system as a mix of Rocket League, DOTA, and Transistor. The game’s description is as follows: “Pyre is a party-based RPG in which you lead a band of exiles to freedom through an ancient competition spread across a vast, mystical purgatory.”
2. Gran Turismo Sport

What would a Playstation exclusive list be without mentioning Gran Turismo? It’s the series’ first venture onto the PS4, and the 13th title overall in the franchise. GT Sport is being developed by Polyphony Digital, and based on what we’ve seen so far, it’s going to look incredible.

This is a standalone story and an expansion to Uncharted 4, and the first in the series that won’t feature Nathan Drake as the protagonist. Instead, you’ll be playing as Chloe Frazer with the help of Nadine Ross. The game takes place while you’re searching for treasure in India, and will explore themes of Hinduism and mythology.
