Avengers: Endgame Theory Hints At Captain America’s End

As Avengers: Endgame prepares to Rocket Racoon into cinemas next year, the fan theories are flying around like Tony Stark in the Milano. While we’re still in the dark about what’s going to happen in the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, a new theory suggests that the original Avengers will be heading into familiar territory and rehash the individual arcs of their solo movies.

Time travel is a big rumour for what’s coming in Endgame but redditor PM_ME_YA_TATTAS thinks there will be a different blast from the past that will recreate the events of Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Thor. If you’re ready, let’s break it down Avengers by Avenger:

Iron Man

Things are looking pretty bleak for Tony Stark as he records his dying (yeah, we’re not buying it) message to Pepper Potts. If you remember back to Jon Favreau’s Iron Man and the start of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the billionaire playboy crafted his first Iron Man suit to break free from a terrorist cell. Could Robert Downey Jr.’s ingenious inventor craft his own space suit — possibly from the parts of Nebula — and return to Earth to join the surviving heroes?

Thor

Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder is only briefly seen looking a little down in the dumps and presumably moping because he didn’t aim for the head. The whole premise of Thor was that the muscular hammer-thrower was unworthy to live up to the legacy of Asgard and was cast out by is his own father. If he blames himself for not landing that killer blow on Thanos, it fits that Thor will cast himself out to do some soul searching and eventually return to take his place on the throne of a new Asgard.

Hulk

The green sheep of the MCU family was Louis Leterrier’s The Incredible Hulk from 2008. Before Mark Ruffalo played the Emerald Giant, the Edward Norton-led movie saw Bruce Banner running away from the Hulk entity and eventually embrace it in the end. We all remember how Hulk basically did this to Banner after being blasted from space in Infinity War, so get ready for an emotional reunion as the duo are sure to “Hulk smash” their way into Avengers: Endgame.

Captain America

With Chris Evans ‘apparently’ bowing out after Phase 3, should we prepare for an emotional farewell for the star-spangled hero? The end of The First Avenger had Cap survive a brush with death when his plane crashed in the Arctic. In a tragic Endgame twist, the theory guesses tha Rogers won’t wake up after being defrosted in the future. Instead, he’ll fly to his heroic death while looking at a picture of Peggy Carter — *sob* get those tissues ready.

All of this is speculation right now, but come on, what did you really expect to find out from an MCU trailer? It’s a pretty well put together theory that has over 1,000 upvotes on Reddit, and safe to say we’re buying it. Those Russo Brothers aren’t messing around with spoilers, so ultimately, you’ll have to wait until April 2016 to find out whether any of the above is right or just the crackpot theory of a Marvel superfan.
