Black Panther Makes Superhero History In This Year’s Oscars

The nominees for the 91st Oscars have now been revealed.

As predicted, A Star is Born, Roma, Bohemian Rhapsody are firm favourites across multiple categories.

Black Panther also becomes the first superhero film to be nominated for Best Picture.

Aquaman director James Wan had previously made it very clear that he was unhappy with the film’s snub in the Visual Effects category.

Wan labeled the decision a “f****ing disgrace” in a Facebook comment.

“Kelvin, you and your department are the unsung heroes of this film,” Wan replied. “The fact that your VFX peers in the Academy aren’t recognizing or appreciating what we/you’ve all contributed to the film and cinema is a f****ing disgrace”.
