Ryan Hurst who stole the hearts of endless viewers during his time as Opie in Sons of Anarchy, is set to make the jump into the universe of The Walking Dead.
Ryan Hurst, who appeared in the show for 53 episodes will join the cast for the next season of the ever-popular zombie series.
Hurst will appear as beta in the post-apocalyptic world and will take on a leading role as the right hand man of Alpha, played by Samantha Morton, the leader of The Whisperers.
The gang cover themselves in zombie skins in order to move around amongst the undead whilst going unnoticed.
The actor took to Twitter to not so subtilely tease the news.

The next season of the Walking Dead will be all change for fans, as long time fan-favourites, Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan (Rick and Maggie) depart the show.
Lincoln recently opened up on his departure from the show, citing his family as the main motivation for wanting to take a break after working on the series since 2010.
“I have two young children, and I live in a different country, and they become less portable as they get older,”
“It was that simple. It was time for me to come home.”
Cohan on the other hand has suggested her departure could be more open-ended, leaving the chance for a potential return to the show in the future.
Following a drop in ratings in the last season, producers will be facing a test to restore the popularity of the show to what it once was. It’s likely this addition to the cast will go some way in doing that too.
The Walking Dead will return to AMC on October 7 in the US and the following day on Fox and NOW TV in the UK.
