The full 48-minute walkthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 has finally been released.
It. Looks. Awesome.
Watch it all below:
The description reads: “Watch 48 minutes of official 2018 gameplay from Cyberpunk 2077 and get a glimpse into the world of perils and possibilities that is Night City — the most vibrant and dangerous metropolis of the future.”
The highly-anticipated role-playing video game has been developed and published by CD Projekt, releasing for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Players will be given a lot of freedom in how they want to approach different situations. A big part of that will come down to what abilities you choose, and how you choose to use them.
We’re not sure what abilities will be available. All we know is that there will be a ‘lot’ of them.
As expected from a huge open world RPG game from CD Projekt Red, there will also be the typical quest system and a variety of dialogue choices that may or may not impact the direction of the story.
There will be a variety of skill trees and paths to progress through, as well as 6 different skills you’ll be able to level up and upgrade as you play. So far, we know of four skills – strength, intelligence, constitution, and ‘cool’. More on that skill later.
When you shoot an enemy, the damage you do will appear on the screen, similar to Borderlands and Fortnite. We’re not yet sure if enemies will have health bars above their heads, but it sounds likely.
With this in mind, Cyberpunk 2077 sounds like it’ll have a shooter style that’s more in-line with Destiny, The Division 2, and Borderlands, as opposed to something like Call of Duty or Halo.
Interestingly, there will be much more options for customization when it comes to creating your character. You can change how you appear and choose your gender and potentially much more. However, no matter what options you choose, you’ll be called V and will play the role as a mercenary.
You’ll be able to make your own way through the game, picking up side quests along the way, but there will be a bespoke storyline that will be consistent throughout playthroughs.
Whilst CD Projekt Red’s influence is clearly spread all over Cyberpunk 2077, it definitely feels like its own game. It stands out enough so that you won’t be thinking you’re just playing a sci-fi version of The Witcher 3.
Cyberpunk 2077 will have one of the biggest and most unique open worlds we’ve ever seen in an RPG. The world will be very colorful, quirky, and full of character. Cyberpunk 2077 has clearly taken inspiration from movies like Blade Runner and Fifth Element.
Whilst there is a lot of color and fun to be found on the streets of Cyberpunk 2077, the game still has a thematically dark nature. It’ll be a mature game with a darker storyline than the original E3 trailer may have showcased.
Expect to see lots of gore, lots of blood, naked women, you name it. Anything that would make a games authority board slap a mature label on a video game can be found in Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt Red seemed to heavily hint towards the possibility to pursue romances in Cyberpunk 2077. Think along the lines of Mass Effect.
There will be many characters in Cyberpunk 2077 that play an integral part in the story and players may be able to pursue certain plotlines with them.
Like mentioned before, we wouldn’t be surprised if these romance plotlines lead to some rather mature content. So if that’s your thing, Cyberpunk 2077 has got it.
Cyberpunk 2077 will put you into a sprawling metropolis. It won’t be as filled with life as GTA is, but there will be interactions to be had as you explore the city.
You will also have a futuristic vehicle to drive around in that looks like some kind of sci-fi supercar. Whilst there were flying cars in the trailer, it seems that you’ll be stuck to driving on the roads.
Apparently, the city will evolve as you make decisions throughout Cyberpunk 2077. The changes may not be as drastic as the changes you will be able to make in Dying Light 2, but they will certainly be noticeable.
On top of all of the leveling and progression systems in Cyberpunk 2077, there will be a street cred rank that players can progress by completing missions and acquiring certain items. As your street cred grows, more of the open world will become available to explore.
This suggests that whilst the story is linear, you’ll need to branch out and do side missions at certain points to be able to progress through the game.
The ‘cool’ skill will somehow roll into your street cred, but we’re not sure how yet.
