Pokemon Go just keeps rolling out the updates. Niantic seems to be responding well to what fans want from the game as they continue to update the app to their audience’s liking. The latest hint about something new? A “Buddy System” that will feature in the game soon.
A recent leak of placeholder files in the code of the new update hinted at the inclusion of different types of Pokemon, Legendary ones, as well as the ability to trade items and creatures with other players.
Now it seems that a similar leak has revealed the existence of a buddy system that involves the player being able to walk along with certain Pokemon. Sounds like a pretty fun, dynamic change, to be honest.
According to the Pokemon Go Hub, one user data mined the app (which usually provides some exciting details regardless of any game that’s mined).
They outlined the Buddy System as follows:
- Pokemon Buddy System uses the same server calculations as Pokemon Eggs does
- Walking with your assigned Pokemon earns you candy, although there is likely a limit to how much candy can be obtained
- There is a limit to walking one Buddy Pokemon at a time
- Different animations correspond to different types of Buddy Pokemon e.g:
- Medium size
- Big size
- Flying next to you
- Rests on your shoulder
It sounds like this is Niantic’s freshest idea yet and will be sure to instill a bit of user retention at a decently high after it has fallen in recent weeks.
