According to the developer, inspiration for Pine was heavily influenced by Link’s various adventures in The Legend of Zelda series, an intriguing nemesis system similar to the one featured in Shadow of Mordor. A choice dependent progression system like the Fable series and dance-like combat from Bloodborne.
Pine is a 3D action-adventure game, players embark on a quest to look for a new place to call home as well as ensuring your tribe survives. Additionally, the game’s biggest selling point is how the game’s setting adapts based on your choices, and interactions with the island’s inhabitants. “In the world of Pine, every action, even inaction, has an effect,” the game’s Kickstarter page explains. “The direction in which you explore the island of Albamare and way in which you come into contact with its many inhabitants defines how the world will change, evolve and adapt.”
