This Mod Turns Fallout 4 into a Realistic Survival Game

If Fallout 4’s survival mode wasn’t enough of a challenge for you, look no further; the Frost Survival Simulator mod is here (to kick your ass).

The Frost Survival Simulator Mod erases the story of Fallout 4 and puts you in the world of the Commonwealth right after the bombs fell. As a result, advanced settlements don’t yet exist and radiation levels are extremely high. Your only objective is to survive in the only relatively rad-free area in the Commonwealth: the subway tunnels. Just because the tunnels are safe from rads doesn’t mean they aren’t filled with newly irradiated animals, ghouls, and very distrustful survivors.

Frost revamps the combat system to make it more realistic (you can drop anyone with a well placed shot/sledgehammer) but these combat changes extend to you as well. Every enemy you encounter has the potential to mercilessly kill you if you aren’t careful. However, the mod also makes combat more fair by giving NPCs limited ammunition. Lower level NPCs also have relatively worse aim compared to higher level NPCs. As in vanilla survival mode, the only way to save the game is to sleep. The mod is still in pre-alpha but it is very playable. Frost is the sequel to Dust, a similar survival mod for Fallout: New Vegas.
