New Spider-Man Trailer Proves That Tony Stark ‘Is Dead’

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe is usually pretty good at keeping a lid on its spoilers — no thanks to Tom Holland — fans are convinced the action-packed trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home has revealed what happens to Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame.

After the jaw-dropping climax of Avengers: Infinity War, heroes like Holland’s Spider-Man have been left for dust thanks to Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet. Things look to be (relatively) back to normal in Far From Home as Peter Parker suits up again to take on a squad of new enemies and possibly Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio.

Considering Iron Man was one of the OG Avengers who were alive and well before the Infinity War credits rolled, Robert Downey Jr.’s billionaire playboy is expected to have a major role in Endgame. Things are already looking pretty grim for Tony in the first Endgame trailer, but one Twitter user thinks the superhero sequel could be Stark’s swansong.

Looking closer at Far From Home‘s teaser, there is definitely a Stark-shaped hole in the movie. As well as Nick Fury taking over as Spidey’s gruff mentor, Happy Hogan is seen holding a cheque signed by Pepper Potts (not Tony). Elsewhere, Peter is pretty emotional looking at the Spidey suit Stark gave to him in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Hogan stoically warns, “You’re all alone.”

Of course, this is only Far From Home‘s first trailer and was never likely to give much away. The MCU edit wizards are experts at misdirection, but what if even Disney didn’t realise the spoilerific nature of the Far From Home trailer? The first look at Endgame teased Tony’s demise in the depths of outer space, but we aren’t buying that for a second. However, a final showdown where he loses his life to Josh Brolin’s Thanos could be on the cards!

Tony Stark Avengers-Endgame

MCU boss Kevin Feige has already teased there will be a very different line-up of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Phase 4 of the world’s highest-grossing franchise. As well as Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel being the new face of the MCU, there’s swirling rumours that Chris Evans is done playing Captain America — is anyone that bothered? Saying goodbye to Iron Man is a real kick in the Vibranium though.

RDJ helped launch the MCU back in 2008 with Iron Man and has since been a major presence in the Avengers movies, Captain America: Civil War, and Homecoming. Putting it bluntly, we’re not ready to say goodbye to superstar Stark just yet…what about Iron Man 4?
