Crytek finally come to the conclusion that CryEngine will no longer be identified by a number.
Crytek will identify their next-gen new engine simply by “CryEngine” Crytek business development director Carl Jones made a statement that “Since CryEngine 3 was launched in 2009, we’ve dramatically changed the engine so many times, with so many major new features, it’s not the same engine anymore.”
The new “CryEngine” will offer better support to game licenses. Crytek stated that “in essence offering Crytek’s R&D as a service for developers using the new CryEngine,”
The new engine will support current – gen and next-gen platforms.
