Nintendo will release a mini version of their classic NES today (in the U.K at least). The nostalgia machine is a mini version of their classic console, comes pre-loaded with 30 classic titles, HDMI ready and it all comes in a 80’s-inspired box for only $60.
The updated NES has become very popular with pre-orders and has even sold out on top sites, with supplies running low for Amazon and the like. It looks like Christmas could be a very good time for Nintendo’s sales.
The classic 8-bit machine will surely hit two different audiences well. Children who want a classic slice of retro gaming in an affordable and tiny package, and players of the original NES who want a relief from modern-day shooters or in-depth RPG’s. With this machine, they can kick back with the original Super Mario Bros or The Legend of Zelda.
Additional controllers will be sold separately if players want a multiplayer experience however. But, for a stocking filler at Christmas, it seems like an absolutely fantastic idea. A good move by Nintendo to smash the Christmas market while they prepare for the launch of their new console, the Nintendo Switch.
