Obsidian’s New Game Looks Like Fallout New Vegas… But In Space

The Game Awards 2018 gave us a lot to look forward to, but The Outer Worlds is a game that’s gotten everyone particularly excited.

Obsidian Entertainment’s new game is a single player RPG that fans can’t stop comparing to the legendary Fallout: New Vegas – and for good reason.

Despite being set in space, what we’ve seen of the game so far shows off a world that’s very visually similar to Fallout: New Vegas, and it even seems to share the same humorous tone for the storyline and narrative.

The Outer Worlds’ official game description reads: “In The Outer Worlds, you awake from hibernation on a colonist ship that was lost in transit to Halcyon, the furthest colony from Earth located at the edge of the galaxy, only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy it.

“As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.”

Over on the game’s dedicated subreddit, gamers aren’t only comparing the upcoming title to New Vegas, but also to classic franchise, Bioshock.

The Outer Worlds is coming from new publisher, Private Division, which was started by Take-Two who also own Rockstar Games. That in itself is enough of a reason to expect high-quality gameplay, gorgeous graphics and an impressive storyline.

We were treated to a two-minute trailer at TGA 2018 earlier this month, and the game definitely looks like it’s shaping up very, very nicely.

As of yet, there’s no set-in-stone release date for the game, but it’s going to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC at some point in 2019.

…If it doesn’t get delayed, that it.
