PlayStation 4 Controller Gets Modded Out With Longer Toggle Sticks For This Reason

The creativity of serious gamers should never be underestimated. One PS4 gamer decided that maybe the secret to better sniping wasn’t adjusting in-game sensitivity, but rather modding his controller to make him more accurate.

The principle behind the controller mod is simple. This gamer added longer sticks onto his PS4 controller to make his inputs more precise. Because the stick is longer, the thumb needs to travel further in order to put in the same input as a regular stick. You might see this as a handicap, but in reality, it’s a very good idea. Because the stick travel is further, it’s easier to make minute adjustments on the fly, especially in first-person shooters.

But what about sensitivity? Why wouldn’t you just lower the sensitivity to make your inputs more precise? Well, for starters, having longer sticks just means you have to move your thumb further in order to move the targeting reticle on screen the same distance. It doesn’t mean the maximum speed of the reticle is reduced- your sensitivity doesn’t change at all, you’re just more precise.

Hopefully Sony will see this mod and start putting out pro controllers with a similar modification- specialized controllers would make high level gaming even more exciting.
