If you’ve been playing Pokemon Go, you are probably aware of the amount of XP you can gain while using a lucky egg. We previously explained how to take full advantage of a lucky egg in order to obtain 60,000 XP, but here’s a little trick you can use to earn even more experience in the game.
First of all, you are going to want to hang onto all of the common Pokemon you come across such as Pidgeys, Rattatas, Spearow, Weedles, Caterpies, and Zubats. (Pokemon that have more than one evolution are the most effective since it costs less candy to evolve them once, but Zubats and Rattatas will still work fine if that’s what you’re working with.)
Second, pop that lucky egg. Once it’s active, start evolving your collection of common Pokemon. You can avoid those third evolutions until you’re completely done with your seconds, since it requires a significantly higher amount of candy to create those.
Now here’s where this little trick comes into play.
You know that time consuming evolution animation that occurs every time you evolve a Pokemon? Well, instead of sitting through it every time you evolve a pocket monster, you’re going to want to close out your app and reopen it.
The time difference between waiting for the animation to finish and closing out the app and reopening it is roughly 10 seconds, which adds up when you’re on a 30 minute time constraint to get as much done as possible. This lets you average around evolving 5 Pokemon a minute, and 150 Pokemon during your 30 minute lucky egg.
Even though it can be a little annoying closing out the app and reopening it over and over again over a period of half an hour, it does allow you to evolve a few more Pokemon and earning that extra XP might be worth it.
