Pokemon Red/Blue And Mewtwo Movies Are ‘Getting Live Action Remakes’

Last year the world was thrown into chaos when the live action Pokemon movie, Detective Pikachu, got its first trailer.

The trailer, which features CGI Pokemon in the real world, opened our eyes to a world of questions, including (but not limited to) whether or not Pikachu (Pikachus?) are really furry, and how can a Jigglypuff be so terrifying?

But according to a report from We Got This Covered, we might have more CGI Pokemon to wonder/worry about, as it sounds like more Pokemon movies will be going live action.

We’ve known for a while now that Japan will get CGI movie, Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, later this year, but We Got This Covered reports on a further two projects – another Mewtwo movie and an adaptation of the classic GameBoy games, Pokemon Red and Blue.

The rumours come from the site’s “trusted sources,” and film company Legendary has yet to comment on the speculations.

If the rumours are to be believed though, the Red/Blue movie would follow the adventures of the protagonist of the Game Boy games, out on his quest to defeat the Elite Four and become a Pokemon master.

As for the Mewtwo movie, all that’s supposedly known is that it’s completely separate from the existing Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution.

Detective Pikachu releases 10th May 2019 and if it’s successful it’s likely we’ll then find out whether or not these rumours are true. Would you like to see a live-action version of the OG Pokemon games, or are you still scarred by the CGI Psyduck?
