AMC’s next big thing is Preacher, which is scheduled to premiere Sunday, May 22. The new show, adapted from Vertigo’s ’90s cult classic, follows the escapades of a corrupt priest as he journeys to find God. With The Walking Dead‘s season finale on the horizon, expect AMC to turn up its promotional efforts.
In other words, expect more previews. On Friday, AMC revealed a teaser for the black comedy horror series. It doesn’t reveal much of the plot, which is typical of teasers, but it does showcase some familiar faces.
Joseph Gilgun as Jesse Custer, the Preacher
Ian Colletti as Eugene/Arseface
Ruth Negga as Tulip O’Hare
There’s a lot riding on Preacher for AMC. Besides The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul, none of the network’s original series have caught much traction. TURN: Washington’s Spies is a borefest, and Halt and Catch Fire barely has a following despite its critical acclaim.
The trailers for Preacher do look promising, though. Check out the teaser here and the longer trailer, which premiered early March, below.
