Pokemon Go has been making waves all over the world ever since its release. Until now, the game has been launched in some select countries, which has been frustrating players from other countries.
Asia is one of the continents where the game hasn’t been officially launched yet, but a lot of fans are using different hacks and tricks to download and play the game. Although the delay of launch has bothered the fans from most of the Asian countries, the Chinese are the least bothered because they have their own version of Pokemon Go.
China is already being known for ripping-off famous games in the past. A couple of months ago, someone in China ripped off Blizzard’s blockbuster game Overwatch, and now it’s time for Pokemon Go to have its own bootleg version.
The people of China are enjoying a knock off game called City Spirits Go, which has a strong resemblance to Pokemon Go, although it is not a complete replicate. City Spirits Go is now the number one downloaded free game in the Chinese iOS app store.
Apart from the similar name, the gameplay of City Spirits Go is also strikingly close to Pokemon Go. The players need to use their phone’s GPS and move around to catch ‘monsters’ in the wild. The characters of the game also evolve in the same way the characters from Pokemon Go do.
City Spirits Go has been developed by Xiaoyu Sun and was launched back in March 24, just a couple of weeks after the first beta testing of Pokemon Go was done.
Here are a couple of screenshots from the game:
